Book Review: Adorkable by Sarra Manning

Jeane Smith's a blogger, a dreamer, a dare-to-dreamer, jumble sale queen, CEO of her own lifestyle brand and has half a million followers on Twitter. Michael Lee's star of school, stage and playing field. A golden boy in a Jack Wills hoodie. They have nothing in common but a pair of cheating exes. So why the hell can't they stop snogging?

My thoughts
If you've read any of Sarra Manning's other YA offerings and loved them as much as me (i.e. A LOT), then Adorkable is for you. Jeane and Michael Lee have that awkward love to hate relationship going on - there is no insta-love here, no 'we're going to be soulmates forever and live happily ever after despite being teenagers who will change in many ways and be completely different people in 10 years'. They are one of my favourite YA couples, and Michael Lee may have stormed his way into my list of fave YA boyfriends. As for Jeane, she is another of Sarra Manning's trademark teen females who isn't defined by her boyfriend.

As a blogger, in some ways I can relate to Jeane. I feel closer to some of my 'online' pals than people in real life, and although my sense of style is nowhere near as crazy as Jeane's, I know how it feels being the girl who wears things when they aren't in fashion and gets made fun of, yet months later, those same people are wearing what I've now tired of. And her speech about Gen Y? Absolutely fantastic. If I didn't think I'd get sued for breach of copyright, I'd post it here for you all to read. Seeing as I can't do that, what I suggest you do is get a copy of Adorkable pronto and read it for yourself. Thank me later :)

Adorkable is truly adorable! (Sorry, couldn't stop myself...)
