Nail Polishes for Spring

March 30, 2016 in Beauty

Spring is officially here, and I always find I start to wear lighter, brighter colours as the weather gets less grey and we (hopefully!) see a bit more sunshine. Nail polish is no exception, and I’ve picked out 5 shades from my collection that I think are just perfect for spring time.

Mint Green

Essence’s Play with My Mint is a lovely mint green shade that gives a nice pop of colour without being too in your face. This one reminds me of Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, which most beauty lovers will know is one of Essie’s most popular shades.

Rose Gold

Probably my favourite pick from these polishes is Essie’s Penny Talk. It’s just simply stunning, and I haven’t been able to find a perfect dupe for it, which is sad because it’s not the easiest to get hold of in the UK. It’s a super pretty pink toned copper foil polish; in some lights it looks like it has a lot of silver in it and others it looks more like a true rose gold/copper. Orly’s Rage or Rose Chrome Foil are the closest matches I can find, but they have quite a bit of shimmer which Penny Talk doesn’t.

Pale Pink

OPI’s Steady As She Rose is a pale, creamy pink that looks almost lilac in some lights. It’s a lovely muted polish that will work with any outfit, and I find it’s the perfect polish to wear to the office. One problem is that I’ve only managed to find this on eBay, so I scoured the internet and my polish collection for something similar, and I think that Model’s Own Utopia is a great alternative.

Cool Baby Blue

If you’re looking for a cool baby blue with the slightest hint of shimmer, then China Glaze’s Sea Spray is the one. It’s quite a cool dusky shade of blue, and the shimmer is so subtle that you might not notice it until the light hits it in the right place.

Lavender

Finally, Revlon’s Provence is another in my collection that I chose straight away when looking for the perfect spring polish. It can look like cool, grey based or a warm lilac depending on the light, but either way it’s a very nice simple creme polish that also looks good under a fine glittery top coat.
