Fee posted this tag on her blog a little while back, and today I’ve finally got round to sharing my answers seeing as autumn is my favourite season!
1. What signifies the start of autumn for you?
Seeing as autumn is my favourite season, the start of September will always mean the beginning of autumn to me. I did see some tweets complaining that it’s “not officially autumn” until late September, but it all depends on which system you are using. Although the astrological system says autumn began on 22nd September 2016, the meteorological system always marks the season from the 1st of the month. So neither is wrong, but the sooner the better if you ask me!
2. What is your favourite autumn scent?
Toasted marshmallows! I love the way the sweetness of the sugar combines with the smokiness of the charred bits of marshmallow when they’ve been toasted over an open fire.
3. What is your favourite autumn colour?
It has to be tan I think. I do love a tan handbag and I’m forever searching for the perfect pair of cognac leather boots.
4. What is your favourite autumn drink?
A simple hot chocolate with a few drops of vanilla extract or a glug of vanilla syrup, topped with whipped cream and tiddly marshmallows. Delicious!
5. What TV show, new or old, are you looking forward to this autumn?
Autumn sees the return of lots of my favourite TV shows, as new seasons tend to begin September/October time. I’ve been enjoying new episodes of Once Upon a Time, Grey’s Anatomy and Chicago PD and I’m eagerly awaiting the return of The Vampire Diaries which is kind of bittersweet as this will be its final season. I also find cold, rainy autumn nights and weekends to be the perfect opportunity to re-watch old shows; I’ve actually started re-watching One Tree Hill which is quite possibly my favourite TV show ever?! You can see all of my favourite shows and movies on Netflix here.
6. What is your favourite autumn fashion trend?
Tan leather boots and rich coloured jumpers… think deep emerald green and gorgeous berry shades. I always like to pop on a fine knitted snood or scarf over my jacket too.
7. What is your favourite frugal autumn activity?
Reading for sure! All you need is a good book, which you can even get for free from libraries or try and borrow/swap with friends and family (my nan and I share books with each other a lot). Then find yourself a quiet space to read and a blanket to snuggle up with. If you’re feeling really fancy, grab a nice hot drink to sip too!
8. What is your favourite makeup look during autumn?
Nude lips, copper or rose gold eyeshadow and dusky mauve blushes are what I tend to reach for in autumn. For nude lips, I recommend the Maybelline Color Drama lip pencil in Nude Perfection. As for eyeshadow, my favourite palette to use this time of year has to be the Sleek Oh So Special eyeshadow palette as it has some really pretty shades. Gift Basket is the perfect bronze/copper, Organza is a beautiful rose gold and Celebrate is a stunning deep metallic purple toned taupe. As for blush, I would suggest Sleek’s Blush in Antique as it’s the perfect dusky mauve shade to transition from the brighter corals and pinks that I use in the summer months.
I really enjoyed answering these questions – thanks to Fee for posting it! Please give it a go yourself and do let me know in the comments or tweet me if you do… I’d love to read your answers.
